Songster Records "Where The Music Becomes You"
R n B
The definition of R n B as defined by Songster Records is a popular genre of music heavily influenced by the urban Black North American culture and is comprised of an infusion of Rock n Roll, Jazz, Blues, Soul as well as Funk music. RnB also know as R&B or Rythem and Blues is a term that was created in the late 40's by Billboard magazine and used by record labels to describe predominantly urban Black American music containing a pattern of beats which inspirit dance. R n B instruments usually, however, not always consist of: one or two guitars, a bass, a saxophone, a piano, main vocalist, back up vocals and a drum kit.
By 1949 the term R n B had all but replaced Billbroad magazine's commercial music genre category Harlem Hit Parade. In it's infancy, the lyrics of R n B were about the day-to-day struggles of the urban Black American life which included: the economical and social class differences as well as the victories and defeats with regard to relationships, desires and sex
