Songster Records 30 Second Soundbite Lyrics
Chorus: So where do I go from here, how do i let go of the past? How do I let go of the future that we never got to have? Oh where do I go from here, when your laugh is in my head and how do I let go of the memories and everything you said? Where do I go from here My Dear? Where do I go from here My Dear?

The Abbey West Creative Writing Process
I started writing songs when I was about nine years old. Looking back on them
they were quite cheesy and I didn't actually rhyme words but it was a start, and it
was a creative outlet for me to start something that affected my life for the
better. When I was in sixth grade, it became clear to me that people weren't
always going to be nice, no matter how nice you were to them. I wasn't
conforming into the 11 year old "mean girl" it felt like all the popular kids wanted
me to be, and I lost quite a few friends because of that. Lost and feeling
helpless, I put pen to paper and really started using song writing as
my comfort blanket, and that's exactly what it was and remains to be for me today. Song writing is my comfort
blanket that helps me settle and reflect on my thoughts in ways I never would
be able to do if I just spoke to someone. I would come home, sit in my room and
just write lyrics in my notebook and somehow everything felt like it was going
to be alright. As years have gone by, it's become much more than expressing how
hurt I was from the bullies at school. I write about memories, falling in love,
jealousy, bitterness, missing someone, the "what if" thought, heart
brake etc... Basically any emotion or thought that impacts me on a daily basis.
In terms of lyrics and melodies, these can come to me at any time of day. I could
be in the shower and I'll start singing a verse and think to myself "hey
that's actually pretty catchy" or I could be on a bus ride home and come
up with a chorus and try to memorize it so I can write the rest of it down when I
get home. Different melodies and lyrics are constantly streaming in the
back of my head it's just a matter of time before I self consciously start
singing or humming it out loud. Personally, I think taking your inner thoughts
and emotions and transforming them into a song people can listen to and really
relate to is one of the most beautiful things in the world.
Life InfluencesMy Mom had the biggest influence on my life growing up.
At a
young age she had to be independent and work very hard to give herself and her
family things that may have been needed. Still as an adult, she inspires me
everyday to become at least half as an amazing person, friend, wife and parent
as she is today. Her love and support has made me strong enough to get through
things I didn't know I ever could. She always puts her family first before
anything and is the most selfless person I am lucky enough to have in my life.
I love her with all my heart and hope to give her everything she ever wants
someday :)

i Quote"Recording for me is quite the process. I find myself the quietest room in the house, shut all windows, make myself a cup of tea and grab my guitar. It can take anywhere from 15 minutes to 6 hours to record a song and make it exactly how I want it to sound."

Musical Influences
A variety of various artists. I'm
just going to be honest and say yes I went through the stage of obsessing over
the Jonas brothers, Aly & AJ and Hannah Montana. I mean I wanted to be just
like them. And yes, they all have talent. However, As I have gotten older my
music taste and sound that I tend to lean towards in terms of what influences
me is anything from Oasis to The Beatles. Their songs blow me away with how
much raw emotion gets put into every lyric and truly inspires me. Also, growing
up when my dad would take me on road trips, he would blast Led Zeppelin, The
police and ACDC. Of course, I thought all these bands had the coolest sound
ever. I was in awe of the fact they got to rock out on stage in front of
thousands of people singing the music that they had produced and it became my
goal to do the exact same thing one day.

The Abbey West Recording and Producing Process
When
I was 15 I begged my mom to buy me a microphone to sing and record music on.
Recording a demo in a studio would be too costly, so I decided I'd find a way
to do it myself. Lucky for me, my mom bought that microphone I really wanted
and I saved up to buy myself a mac so I could use "Rock Band" to
record on which was recommended by my art teacher. Recording for me is quite
the process. I find myself the quietest room in the house, shut all windows,
make myself a cup of tea and grab my guitar. It can take anywhere from 15
minutes to 6 hours to record a song and make it exactly how I want it to sound.
At the end of the day, I`m not a professional mixer with any beats and I
haven`t had any tutorials on how to record, so I basically learn how to record
the best music I can using just me, my microphone, laptop and guitar.
I`m very proud of the music I have created so far, and apparently my family is
too because they play my demo CD every day in the car!
